Record-keeping and Public Records

As a public authority, KTH stores, creates, and receives official documents. Examples of such documents include KTH’s research reports and course records. The handling of official documents is governed by laws and regulations. It is therefore important that you understand how to manage the specific documents you are responsible for.

KTH must keep track of official documents, both to comply with legislation and to meet our own need to locate information. One way we do this is by registering many of these documents. When a document is registered in the official register, this process is called registration (or diarieföring in Swedish). Registering a document in this way ensures that it is properly recorded.

This is important because it allows KTH’s documents to be preserved, made accessible, and retrieved when needed—either by us or by external parties.
