Camera surveillance in KTH's premises and within the campus area is conducted with the aim of creating safe and secure environments for staff, students and visitors. Camera surveillance also aims to prevent and detect criminal activity and investigate incidents of crime.

The legal basis for processing personal data in KTH's camera surveillance is the performance of a task in the public interest.

Prerequisite for camera surveillance

Camera surveillance must comply with current legislation and a needs analysis and assessment must be carried out before camera surveillance is implemented. This is to ensure that the need for camera surveillance outweighs the individual's interest in not being monitored.

Camera surveillance conducted in premises or places to which the public has access, requires a permit in accordance with current legislation.

Responsibility for camera surveillance

KTH's Head of Security decides on camera surveillance at KTH and the Security Department is responsible for managing permits with the relevant authorities.
