Crisis management

KTH actively works with crisis organization to quickly handle serious events that may impact operations, students, and staff. By having a structured crisis preparedness, KTH ensures it can act effectively during different types of crises.

A crisis can be characterized as a serious event that strikes suddenly, unexpectedly, and unpredictably, is beyond the control of those involved or KTH, can cause major life changes or human suffering, is perceived as a serious threat to individuals, groups, or the organization, and can damage trust in KTH.

In crisis preparedness, KTH works based on the following principles:

Responsibility Principle – The person responsible for an operation under normal circumstances is also responsible during a crisis.

Principle of Similarity – The crisis organization should, as far as possible, mirror the regular organization to ensure effective management.

Proximity Principle – The crisis should be handled as close to where it occurs as possible, by those who are directly responsible and affected.
