Crisis organisation at KTH

The crisis organization at KTH is designed to quickly and effectively handle serious events that may impact the operations and people. Through a clear structure with local and central crisis groups, as well as defined areas of responsibility, a proactive and coordinated crisis management approach is ensured. The goal is to minimize damage and maintain operational continuity during various types of crises.

  1. Local Crisis Groups
Each school at KTH is responsible for a local crisis group that handles serious events and crises within the specific school. The school director or their appointed representative is responsible for the group, which must be able to activate quickly in the event of a crisis. Local crisis groups exist at various schools such as ABE, CBH, EECS, ITM, SCI, and SciLifeLab. The crisis group informs the central crisis group at the support function in the event of an incident.

  2. Central Crisis Group at the Support Function (CKG-VS)
The central crisis group at the support function supports the schools in serious events and handles inter-authority crises. The group consists of the security manager, department heads from various areas, and a legal advisor. The group meets weekly to proactively identify and evaluate potential crises.

  3. Central Crisis Management for KTH (CKL-KTH)
Central crisis management is activated during major crises that affect multiple schools or require a higher level of coordination. The centralized group consists of CKG-VS and is expanded as needed with relevant managers and staff from affected areas. The decision to activate CKL-KTH is made by CKG-VS.

  4. Reporting Channels
When CKL-KTH is activated, reporting channels and communication methods are established, with encrypted communication via the Signal app or email with read receipt as the primary methods to ensure all involved parties receive and acknowledge the information.
