Lithium-ion batteries on KTH premises
KTH has updated its routine for the handling of lithium-ion batteries to reduce the risk of fire and other incidents, such as the release of toxic gases.
In brief, the routine means that batteries for e-bikes, e-scooters, and other transport devices must not be handled (charged, used, stored, or brought in for charging) within KTH premises.
Exceptions apply to:
- equipment used in research and education, where there is a justified need and appropriate safety measures are in place
- mobility aids and transport equipment for persons with disabilities
The purpose is to create a safe and secure environment within KTH premises and to ensure compliance with requirements linked to the university’s insurance.
