300 employees took part in EECS Day

A poster and art exhibition, short seminars, a prize ceremony and a summer buffet – that was the program of this year’s edition of ‘EECS Day’. The day took place 18 June and was visited by 300 employees from both the campus in Kista and Valhallavägen.

On Tuesday Teknikringen 33 was bursting with life. Doctoral students presented their work on posters in the kitchen, researchers and KTH Innovation held short seminars one floor up, and by the entry was an art exhibitions with paintings, photos and artefacts created by employees at the school.

Afterwards, the school celebrated an intense but successful term with mingle and a summer buffet. Head of School Jens Zander held a speech about the spring term and thanked all members of staff for their good and hard work. Shortly afterwards, the winner of EECS Person 2019 was announced by Jens Zander while the winner of the poster exhibition was revealed by Zuheir Barsoum, Professor at the School of Engineering Sciences and a part of the external jury. The winners were:

  • EECS Person 2019: Pontus Johnson, Professor at the Division of Network and Systems Engineering
    Justification: Pontus Johnson receives this award for his work with education in ethical hacking and for his research on analytical method for detecting weaknesses in IT systems. His research has raised great interest from both media and industry, putting KTH and EECS on the map of Cyber Security - a strategically important area. Pontus Johnson also holds a central position in the forming of KTH’s new research center in Cyber defense and Information security which is carried out in cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Best doctoral poster 2019: Linnea Gustafsson, doctoral student at the Division of Micro and Nanosystems
    Justification: With a clear, pedagogical and stylistically attractive approach, Linnea Gustafsson succeeds in demonstrating her research admirably. By utilizing nature, she finds new future applications and creates added value for mankind.
