EECS new head of school
Joakim Jaldén, professor of signal processing, has been appointed as the new head of school at EECS. He will take office at the end of the year when current head of the school, Ann Lantz, retires.
"I am looking forward to starting the new year working in a new role for the good of KTH and EECS. I have not made it a secret that it is a role I've wished to take on, and I am bringing with me the support that colleagues and students have expressed during the process into the Christmas holidays. It gives me energy to get on with the work after the new year,” says Joakim Jaldén.
In Joakim Jaldén, EECS will have a head of school with a solid research background and long-standing strong ties to KTH and the school, including as vice chairman of the faculty board since 2024.
”The nomination committee has done a very good job in finding suitable candidates and evaluating them based on the requirement profile. It is with a warm welcome that I hand over the assignment as head of school to Joakim. Especially as I know that he will be surrounded by good management in general and fine colleagues”, says outgoing head of school Ann Lantz, who will retain her connection to KTH as a newly appointed professor emerita.
“We have had a very good process thanks to good cooperation with many colleagues, including the current head of school. We received valuable feedback from five former and current head of schools, and the faculty board and the President helped us to refine the profile. Many colleagues took the time to nominate candidates and provided useful competence-based justifications. We conducted many reference interviews with heads of departments, student representatives, administrative managers, faculty board and university management, who again gave us very valuable feedback. Ultimately, this gave us a very clear picture to assess the candidates' competences and could conclude that Joakim Jaldén is the candidate who best matches the requirement profile. As chairman of the nomination committee, I would like to thank everybody who contributed and also thank the other members who participated constructively in the process,” says Tobias Oechtering.
“I am pleased that I have now been able to decide on Joakim Jaldén as the new Head of School for EECS. The nomination committee has done a very thorough job of selecting candidates who met the required profile and who also have a strong foundation within the school. Joakim will be a great asset both for EECS and for KTH, and I also welcome him to KTH's management team from the beginning of the year”, says President Anders Söderholm.
A longer interview with Joakim Jaldén will follow after ha has taken office.
