As announced during the last staff meeting, Ann Lantz is retiring and resigning as Head of School for EECS at the end of the year. The process to find a successor has now begun.

Considering the recent and extensive changes that have taken place within EECS Ann Lantz finds the timing suitable.

“The reorganization of the school and the campus move are two major projects that now are finalized. Next year will thus be something of a fresh start, why it is fitting that the continued work is led by a new Head of School, of course with the support of the established management team that the school already has," says Ann Lantz.

The task of finding a successor lies with the nomination committee led by Tobias Oechtering, Professor, as Chairman and initially means developing a requirement profile to be reviewed by the President of KTH, and the Head of administration and faculty board at EECS. Interviews with current and former heads of school at KTH are being held to identify key competences. In terms of academic qualifications, the title of professor or associate professor is a requirement.

“Once the requirement profile is reviewed and decided, we plan to have a two-week open nomination process, where self-nominations will be accepted. The profile will describe our ambition for the role, a wishlist not a checklist. We do not expect to find candidates that meet all items entirely. We will encourage as many nominations as possible to also communicate the support to candidates who initially did not plan to be a candidate.” says Tobias Oechtering.

The President of KTH, the one ultimately making the decision on who will be the new head of school for EECS, will be continuously informed about the process.

The requirement profile is planned to be finalized in the middle of October, which is followed by the open nomination period. Interviews with candidates are to be held in November after that, and the decision on a new Head of School to be made in the middle of December if the tight time plan can be kept.

If the President cannot decide by the end of the year, Markus Hidell, currently deputy Head of School, will take on the role until a permanent solution is in place.
