Central mail opening

Here you will find information about consent for opening of personally addressed mails

What is central mail opening?

According to a decision by the KTH president, all schools at KTH must register all relevant documents in the electronic document archive. To facilitate this, Service Center opens the mail sent to EECS' employees and informs the recipient that registration must take place, in relevant cases. Since existing legislation prevents us from opening personally addressed mail without consent, consent must be obtained from the employee to open personally addressed mail (see below). The regulation applies to both internal and external mail but not to e-mail where special regulations apply.

Consent

At the moment, EECS does not ask for consent of employees, and thus no personally addressed mail is opened by Service Center. If you receive something in personally addressed mails that should be registered, you need to contact the school's registrar: registrator@eecs.kth.se . Avoid getting private post to KTH.

Personally addressed mail:

Personally addressed mail is where the recipient's name is placed before KTH, e.g.:
Carl Jonsson
KTH EECS
Electrum 229
164 40 KISTA

Non-personally addressed mail:

Non-personally addressed mail has KTH placed before the recipient's name, e.g.:
KTH EECS
Carl Jonsson
Electrum 229
164 40 KISTA

Private mail

Mail marked "personal/equivalent" is excluded from the rule and is not opened.
