Wallenberg Scholars

Universities can apply for support for profiling by nominating individual researchers who, through their research and development potential, are of the highest international class and are expected to contribute to strengthening the current profile of the research area at their university.

This is freely available support for the individual’s research activities. The intention is that the selected researchers should be able to work with a high level of ambition to secure even better international impact for their research, and have an opportunity to invest in bolder and more long-term projects.

Following KAW guidelines, KTH will conduct its own initial prioritisation and selection of candidates. KTH may submit nine candidates, of whom at least four are of the underrepresented gender. Each head of school may nominate up to six candidates, of whom at least 40 per cent are from the underrepresented gender. It is a plus if nominated researchers have previously received large grants such as ERC grants, KAW projects, KAW Fellows or other significant grants in their fields. The selected candidates submit their CV (max. 3 pages) to the Research Support Office  no later than 31 January 2027. Then, the Vice President for Research (or equivalent) selects which nine candidates may submit their applications.

The call opens on 1 March 2027 with a deadline of 12 May 2027.
The call is open every fourth year. KTH can nominate nine researchers.
