Methods and tools for collaboration

Here, anyone who works with value-creating collaboration will find inspiration, models and tools. /It would be good to begin this paragraph with a brief preamble on what value-creating collaboration is.

K3 – A toolbox for value-creating collaboration

The K3 projects are the 17 projects within the call entitled Utveckling av lärosätenas samverkanskapacitet (Development of collaborative capacity among higher education institutions). During the period 2018–2020, Vinnova gave all universities and higher education institutions in Sweden the opportunity to develop their collaboration the Knowledge Triangle (K3) programme. Together, the projects strengthen capacity and quality in collaborations at Swedish higher education institutions, from the individual to the system level, and from initiation to impact. KTH took part in a total of nine different projects, and was the principal for one of them: MerUt.

The results from the various projects have been brought together in a toolbox for the higher education sector – a one-stop-shop for anyone looking for inspiration, models or best practice for value-creating collaboration.

UniLink – the higher education network

UniLink is a non-profit association that aims to develop and renew collaboration between the academic sector and wider society. To do this, higher education institutions form networks based on experience exchange, competence development, international collaboration and shared development projects.

Every year, two major network meetings are organised, known as Arena Meetings. These are an opportunity for members to exchange experiences on the content and forms of their collaborative work, discuss topical issues, and develop and foster common interests.

MerUt – assessment of the societal relevance of education programmes

How do we know that a degree programme is relevant from a long-term societal perspective? What lies behind the design and dimensioning of a degree programme? How do we know we are educating the right number of students?

In the MerUt project – Metoder Relevansbedömning Utbildning, or Methods for Assessing the Relevance of Education Programmes – seven higher education institutions worked together to develop methods and tools for visualising and assessing the societal relevance of education programmes. By discussing the actual concept of relevance and comparing our experiences of different approaches for assessing education programmes’ relevance from a societal perspective, the ultimate aim of the project is to develop the institutions’ quality systems.
