What is HD Video conferencing?
The solution supplies good quality sound and video for distance meetings. KTHs video conferencing systems consist of a HD camera, a codec with H323 protocol, microphone, VGA cable and one or two TV screens. Systems with two TV screens show the other meeting participants on one screen and shared presentations on the other screen, when not sharing a presentation the screen will be black.
To make it easier to make calls within KTH, the video conferencing solution offers a shared address book comprised of:
- Registered KTH Video Conferencing systems
- Virtual meeting (Zoom)

Access options
H.323
The H.323 recommendation of the ITU requires a registration of the videoconferencing endpoints to a so-called gatekeeper which provides address translation and controls access to the network.
Although the H.323 standard includes different addressing methods like e.g. e-mail addresses, these methods are not supported by all gatekeepers and endpoints.
SIP
If your endpoint is SIP enabled, you can dial in with the following syntax:
ConferenceID@video.kth.se
ISDN
Is not supported!
Required infrastructure
In order to connect to our systems your university needs to ensure that the following ports in the firewall are open: TCP + UDP: 5060, 5061, 5070, UDP: 21,000-21,900.
Hints if problems with the video and audio connection:
- Test your network speed at www.speedtest.net
- Use a cable instead of wireless internet.
- Try turning off your video (the camera symbol in Jabber Video)
- If the headphones and microphone does not seem to work double-check that the correct headset has been selected in the settings (all headsets are not installed automatically).
- If no sound, look over the operating systems volume control.
