Software procurement
Information about Software procurement at KTH.
Software and licences must be procured through licensing partner Atea AB. Since May 1st 2019, KTH has an agreement with UDC (UPPSALA UNIVERSITY AND UMEÅ UNIVERSITY).
Procurement of software must comply with current government procurement rules, more information is available on KTH's Purchasing and Procurement page, Procurement and purchasing .
Software provided by KTH
Some software that KTH provides can be ordered through the Order IT-services . You have to contact one of the authorised purchasers at your School to order these software products.
Other software can be ordered using Portal for IT-matters .
Software that is not purchased by KTH
The licence terms and conditions (EULA) for installing and using the software use to be specific for the purpose of the use and the hardware on which it is installed.
Software not purchased by KTH may not be installed on KTH-owned computers, as this may violate the licensing terms of the manufacturer and cause security issues.
Software for private use
As a rule, KTH owned software may not be installed on private computers or other private hardware unless it is explicitly stated in the licence terms of the manufacturer or that it is governed by the licence agreement.
Certain agreements concerning software used by most of KTH's schools, which cover the user groups: students, researchers, teachers and administrative staff at KTH, may have an option that allows installation on a private computer.
This possibility is conditional upon the software being used to perform tasks at KTH and is installed on a KTH computer first.
Software for commissioned education
KTH performs some assignment training through various collaborations with other universities and private actors.
KTH must ensure that missionary education or training of external staff that is not part of KTH's regular activities does not violate the licence terms of software manufacturers.
Therefore, in order to ensure compliance with the licence agreement, information about the participants, the purpose of the education, and other relevant issues.
As licensing conditions differ between different software, each program that will be used in teaching has to be investigated separately.
