The SCI PhD Student Council has held elections for the 2021 term.

Decision of the Electoral Meeting (2020-12-16)

The election meeting was held and the members of the 2021 SCI PhD Student Council were elected. Election minutes 2020 (pdf 185 kB) .

Invitation to Electoral Meeting: (2020-12-02)

To all PhD students at the School of Engineering Sciences,
On Tuesday 15th of December, at 16:00, we are going to have the Election meeting for next year’s SCI School PhD Council, the representative body of THS for PhD students at the SCI school. You are all invited to join the election meeting, the voting will be open to all PhD students.

If you cannot join the meeting and have any objections to the candidates, please send an email to sci-vicechair@dr.kth.se  before 23:59 of Monday 14th of December. During the meeting, the candidates will be presented and then the voting will open to all: the vote will seek confirmation for the entire proposed Council composition.

Call for Nominations (2020-11-17)

The SCI school PhD student council is looking for new members for the coming year 2021. The SCI PhD council is the organ of student representation at the SCI school level, where student representatives from all different programs meet to confront and discuss common issues. You can read more about the current members and our activities by checking out the other pages of this KTH Social group.

If you are interested in participating and have at least one year left in your PhD studies, please send an email to the following address sci-vicechair@dr.kth.se  with the following info:

  • your name, 
  • PhD program, 
  • position(s) of interest, 
  • brief motivation about why you are applying to the position. 

The deadline for applying is until and including 2020-11-17 2020-11-24 (deadline extension).

The open positions are the following:

  1.  Chair (1 position): Primary student representative for PhD students at the SCI school. Duties include:
    • Overall responsibility for the SCI council, including delegating tasks to other council members when needed.
    • Contact point towards central PhD chapter
    • Calling for monthly SCI council meetings
    • Participate in SCI board meetings (acting as the PhD student representative)
  2. Vice-chair (1 position): The vice-chairperson assists and works closely with the chairperson in the coordination and communication of the council members. 
  3. Webmaster (1 position): Responsible for the information technology part of the SCI council. Make sure that web pages, and mailing lists are updated and working.
  4. Event responsible (1+ position(s)): Responsible for coordination of events that take place within the school. Coordinator of the events that the council wants to organise. One event is the welcoming of new PhD students at the SCI school, organized every fall.
  5. PAD (maximum 2 per PhD program): PAD is an acronym for “Programansvarig Doktorand”, in English “PhD student representative of the program”. PADs advocate for improved quality of the PhD program, and students’ rights and their condition. PADs participate to several meetings as representative of the students in the PhD program:
    • Programråd: meeting chaired by the Program Director (PA) to discuss the PhD program.
    • SCI PhD Council: chaired by the SCI PhD Council Chairperson, to confront/compare between programs, and to raise issues common to different programs.
    • Department management meeting: chaired by the Head of Department, to discuss issues and topics regarding the whole department, e.g. teaching, funding, open positions, and general policies.

PADs can also take the role of chairperson and vice-chairperson.
