Unpublishing of personal webpages

The service people.kth.se has, since the early 2000s, offered KTH students and employees the opportunity to publish files and web pages manually coded with scripts and using their own templates. This service will now be discontinued on 19 January 2026. The main reasons are that the service lacks clear ownership, contains both personal and work-related material, and does not meet current standards for accessibility and information management. Instead, KTH refers users to its official web services and profile pages.

The service people.kth.se (whose content is also available as published home directories on, for example csc.kth.se) now needs to be shut down for several reasons, amongst them:

  • The service lacks a designated organizational owner responsible for content management, and it is costly to allocate KTH resources to monitor and clean up the content regularly.

  • The service contains pages with private information that is not related to KTH or its operations, and the line between private and professional content is difficult to assess and manage.

  • The service includes operationally relevant information that belongs in other services provided by KTH, which meet KTH’s and external requirements such as accessibility compliance.

  • Unpublishing of web pages in the service is not linked to or manageable via KTH accounts – many individuals who have left KTH still have public information on people.kth.se.

KTH currently provides official web services for operationally relevant information that meet both external and internal requirements. KTH also offers profile pages where employees can publish information about their work at KTH. This allows for strengthened monitoring of compliance. About profile pages at KTH

For course-related information, KTH’s designated learning environments should be used.

Research-related information is best managed through project or organization-based websites.

About the discontinuation

The final date is Monday, January 19, 2026.

Discontinuation means that publishing of the material will cease. The content will remain in the home directory where it was originally created.
