New directors of first and second cycle education to be appointed in 2026
The process to appoint a director of first and second cycle education and a deputy director of first and second cycle education for the upcoming term of office, 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030, has begun.
The ABE School is seeking a new director of first and second cycle education (GA) as well as a deputy (vice GA) responsible for subject-specific parts of undergraduate education, the architecture area and the built environment area.
The GA is also subject responsible.
The scope of the GA assignment is approximately 50% of a full-time position, and 30% respectively for the vice GA assignment.
Requirements for candidates
The directors of first and second cycle education must have experience in:
- teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels,
- being a course coordinator and examiner
- conducting research,
- being a programme director or equivalent.
In addition, the directors of first and second cycle education must hold a doctoral degree, have higher education pedagogical training, and have examination rights for education at undergraduate and advanced levels during their term of office.
The assignment
The directors of first and second cycle education are responsible for coordinating the work to maintain and develop quality in the delivery of education at preparatory level, undergraduate level, and advanced level at the school, and for the school's education for lifelong learning.
The directors of first and second cycle education also have, together with the faculty board, responsibility for ensuring that the school's degree programs and course offerings are developed in line with KTH's vision and overall goals and with the school's operational plan. The development of degree programs shall take place in agreement with KTH's other schools.
Furthermore, the directors of first and second cycle education are responsible for:
- planning, sizing, monitoring and forecasting of the school's educational mission in consultation with the head of school,
- coordination of the overall systematic quality work for education at preparatory level, undergraduate level and advanced level,
- internationalization of education and collaboration with the surrounding society,
- integration of gender equality, diversity and equal conditions as well as sustainable development in education at preparatory level, undergraduate level and advanced level,
- collaboration with KTH's other schools and operational support regarding issues concerning education.
The directors of first and second cycle education lead the school's quality advisory board for first and second cycle wducation, are part of the school's management advisory board and KTH's undergraduate education committee, as well as other working groups and meeting formats where appropriate.

The school's staff can nominate a new director of first and second cycle education and a deputy director of first and second cycle education. Self-nomination is permitted. Send your nominations to ledningsstod@abe.kth.se by 18 December 2025 at the latest.
