New support for managers in their work

A new manager support on KTH's intranet has been launched by the HR department. There, managers with personnel responsibilities can get information about what is involved in the managerial role and find answers to their questions.
"There is a lot of information on the intranet today about the employer role, but it is aimed at both employees and managers. What's new here is that we are specifically targeting the manager," says Lena Niemi Birgersdotter, HR specialist and project manager for the manager support.
The new manager support is aimed at all managers with personnel responsibilities and explains the employer role from the manager's perspective.
Annual overview for managers
The information is organised in chronological order. It follows the life cycle of an employee from recruitment to termination and describes the manager's tasks. There is also a description of the recruitment process and an annual overview for managers where it is possible to see what is important to manage month by month.
"Some links will be relevant only to managers in the core business, such as information on salary setting according to the doctoral ladder", Niemi Birgersdotter says.
Easier to find information
The manager support provides contact details for HR for all parts of KTH, including schools. The hope is that it will make it easier for managers to find the information available on the intranet and easily see where they can turn for more support on different issues..
"One of the managers in the reference group said: ´It was much clearer than I have ever seen.’ We hope that more people will feel that way", Niemi Birgersdotter says.
A tool for co-operation
In addition to allowing managers to use the manager support to search for information, it will serve as a tool for co-operation between HR and managers.
"In the new organisation, we want to provide equal support to all managers. This manager support will make it easier for HR staff to raise the same issues with managers, by drawing on the information in the manager support," Niemi Birgersdotter says.
