Examination administration now coordinated
From 1 September, most examination administration will be carried out in the same way throughout the organisation. At the same time, all employees at KTH who work in this area will be joined in a new central working group of 12 people at the Education Office (EDO). Cecilia Månson Blom leads the new working group.
"It will be a lot of fun. The staff in the Examinations administration are looking forward to the new way of working," Månson Blom says.
Jimmy Engström, project coordinator at EDO, has worked intensively with the newly formed group to establish standardised working procedures. He has also been involved in training KTH's approximately 540 exam invigilators in the new digital booking system.
The coordination applies to the administration of written and digital exams that require invigilators, including Funka exams.
"One advantage is that legal certainty will be strengthened, as all students will now be treated equally. The coordination will also contribute to more efficient use of premises and savings in invigilator costs, Engström says.
In addition, the working environment for the staff will improve, as the previous practice of working alone in the schools will now end, Månson Blom says.
The previous management of exam invigilator meant that each school had its own procedures for things like bookings and fees.
"This was bad from a quality point of view. There were often double bookings of exam invigilators, and schools brought in reserve invigilators to ensure availability, Engström says.
How will teachers be affected by the change?
"There will be some new routines for teachers. For example, they will now have to upload their exam questions in OneDrive instead of sending them by email, Månson Blom says, and points out the most important messages for teachers:
-
Deliver the exam questions in OneDrive on time. Deadlines are in place to ensure a good workflow for the entire examination administration.
-
The Central Examination Office is the new point of contact for all administrative questions regarding examinations.
-
Specific information measures will be intensified at the beginning of the semester.
