Fire Safety Supervisior

Purpose

The purpose of this function page is to describe the task of the fire protection officer and to support this by clarifying scope, task and knowledge requirements from the instruction, systematic fire protection work at KTH

Extent

This function description applies to the entire KTH, school-specific descriptions can occur and be applied in addition to those stated here.

Definitions

  • Fire safety supervisior- special responsibility for fire protection and documentation within the business.
  • Fire supervision - municipal fire control through the fire department.
  • Fire Protection Round - the preventive band protection round of the business.

Responsability

The head of the school is the fire safety supervisior until the task is delegated. The head of the school may decide that the task shall be delegated to the fire safety supervisior within the school or for each building where the school has operations. A decision on delegation shall be attached to the appendix for the responsibility and task of the fire protection officer and deputies.

Education

The Fire safety supervisior- shall, for his assignment, be centrally organized:

  • KTH specific training for fire safety supervisior
  • Basic fire protection training.

Task

The Fire safety supervisior- shall organize, document, inform and monitor the fire protection work of the business, and participate in the municipal fire inspection. The task also includes collaboration with the school's director of flammable goods.

Documentation

The Fire safety supervisior- shall establish general descriptions of the business and its risks, examples of which are:

  • Describe the division of responsibility for fire safety work.
  • Describe the fire safety organization.
  • Establish and maintain instructions, checklists for responsibilities, controls and maintenance.
  • Describe the organization and instructions in case of fire.
  • Document and describe the design and function of operations-specific installations and how they are expected to be handled in the event of a fire.
  • Describe operational-specific risks and where they are located.
  • Establish a plan for education and exercise.
  • Document the completed training and exercise.
  • Report incidents and accidents as a result of fire in accordance with KTH's regulations.
  • Establish routines for and information for own staff, craftsmen, visitors etc. if work seems to affect or affect fire protection to an extent that requires it from a risk perspective.

Follow-up

  • To KTH's security manager at changes, communicate contact information at function managers in the business.
  • To the KTH's Security Manager inform of operational-specific risks for KTH's intervention plan.
  • Issue permits for hot work.
  • Prevent false alarms as a result of operations-specific work and that any alarm sections are switched on and off and monitored in connection with it.

Practice

The Fire safety supervisior- shall annually plan for and participate in evacuation exercises within his / her activities.

In case of an alarm or a fire warning, or other reason that requires evacuation:

  • Wear warning vest.
  • Alarm 112 and then 790 7700 (KTH's alarm number).
  • Meet up, inform and communicate with the fire department, the property owner and KTH security preparedness.
  • At the collection point, inform the evacuation manager about the current location.
  • Regularly document evacuation status, times, events and possible actions.
  • On order from the fire department's rescue leader, notify return to the premises.
  • Create report
