The annual visit

Every year, KTH's President Sigbritt Karlsson and Deputy President Mikael Östling visit all schools within KTH. The purpose is to give the management a better picture of what is happening at KTH and give the schools the opportunity to tell about their ongoing projects and discussions.

During the afternoon 7 March, EECS offered a trip through some of our strong research fields. Speech, Music and Hearing (TMH) began by demonstrating and presenting the projects "Deep learning for conversational speech synthesis", "Face-to-face interaction with a social robot" and "Machine learning for folk music".

The group then visited the Electric Power and Energy Systems (EPE) lab and listened to the presentation of the projects "Full-scale prototype of a new submodule for future modular multilevel converters" and "Modular Multilevel Converter Prototype".

The final stop was at the division Space and Plasma Physics (SPP) with presentations of various space projects and examples of hardware from different collaborations. The group also got a presentation of the student satellite MIST before it was time for a needed coffee break.

The afternoon ended with a round table discussion with the Head of School's group and three of our Heads of Department; Hans Edin, Hedvig Kjellström and Thomas Sjöland. The agenda was as follows:

• The continued reorganisation of EECS
• The program structure reform
• Streamlining and coordination of KTH-joint processes.
