"The focus of all activities is to develop and raise the quality in all parts of our operations"

Published Dec 12, 2025

A new school year is approaching, and the EECS' reform agenda is being updated. Head of School Ann Lantz, together with the school management, looks ahead and summarizes what is in store for 2026.

What is the focus of the reform agenda in the coming year?

"The EECS reform agenda for 2025 contained almost 20 activities of varying size. Some of them we can consider completed, some will continue to be relevant in the coming year. 2026 will largely be about how remaining activities and focus areas are carried out and implemented in the new organization with more departments. Since EECS also has a new head of school at the turn of the year, it is only then that the school management can make any adjustments to the reform agenda."

What shall the school achieve in its operations?

"The development of the organization continues, with a particular focus on the management of the newly established departments from the turn of the year. The development of the school's education portfolio continues as well, now within the framework of the new organization and supplemented by KTH's investment in experimental educational environments.

In the quality reports submitted in the autumn, a need to also review our lab infrastructure is expressed, as an important part of improving the conditions for research. Based on research and impact, we see continued strategic development work to stimulate increased research funding from the EU, involvement in major national applications and referral work. Next year, we will also continue to work on the review of our distribution models, as well as communication within the school."

Why are these changes most important to make, and how should they be done?

"The focus of all activities is to develop and raise the quality in all parts of our operations, without risking an imbalance in the finances. What has been mentioned above are needs that have been identified through feedback from the operation, and the reform agenda functions as a plan that structures the development work through priorities and collaboration, which in turn results in better quality. In this way, the agenda contributes to a clearer consensus and common strategy for EECS's future research and education."
