MS Office 2016 is being replaced by MS Office 365

Published Nov 25, 2025

A self-upgrade of MS Office has been sent out.

As Microsoft has ended support for MS Office 2016, all users (who have not already done so) need to upgrade their office suite to Office 365 (Microsoft 365).

This is done by an update that is sended from from KTH IT-Support that is visible when you are either connected to KTH's network on one of our campuses or remotely through VPN to KTH for KTH Windows

When Office is updated, it also means that your email client, i.e. Outlook, is also updated and here it is important that after the update you use the Outlook version called Outlook (classic) as the one that is just called Outlook is not compatible with our email system.

Some known problems after the upgrade can be feedback to shared mailboxes, plug-ins in Word or Excel, and renewal of KTH templates and signatures. Contact KTH IT-Support  or your local IT support  and they will help you if needed.
