Presentation techniques with PowerPoint (90 min)
Do you want to learn how to create effective and appealing presentation materials with PowerPoint? This workshop is created based on expressed needs from both teachers and students, and will help you begin creating course materials that promote learning and cognitive processing. We go through the use of, among other things, visualizations, animations and segmented information, based on Richard E. Mayer's research-based principles of multimedia learning and cognitive load theory.
Purpose
The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with tools and methods to create effective course materials that promote learning and cognitive processing. By using visualizations, animations and segmented information, participants can create engaging and easy-to-understand content.
A main goal is for the participants to be able to apply what they have learned directly. Therefore, the workshop will combine practical exercises with theoretical knowledge based on Richard E. Mayer's research-based principles of multimedia learning and cognitive load theory. Discussions will also be included to deepen understanding and promote the exchange of ideas among participants.
Preparation
We will use and demonstrate the Office 365 app PowerPoint as a tool. Participants are welcome to bring a PowerPoint presentation that is ready to be refined.
