Further development of the Maxistudio at KTHB
The project involves developing a practically tested process around the Maxistudio at KTHB. The studio has the potential to become an essential part of KTH's digital learning environment for easy-to-use production of flexible, agile and accessible digital teaching and assessment materials.
Project context
A Maxistudio has already been created by an IT/AV enthusiast from recycled discarded equipment, with the aim of creating an easy-to-use environment for teachers to produce digital teaching and assessment materials. However, processes are lacking for handling a broader start-up of the use and operations of the studio, where multiple user types are included (students, operational support, etc.) as well as the necessary staff from business support for ongoing operations. By defining and testing such processes, the Maxistudio can become an essential part of KTH's digital learning environment.
Purpose (outcome)
-
The project aims to develop digital competence and an appropriate digital infrastructure at KTH in accordance with KTH's digitalisation strategy. This means:
- Increased proportion of courses with student-centred pedagogy that include digital teaching and examination material
- Increased accessibility for
- teachers who want to create flexible, flexible and accessible digital teaching material in a professional environment
- students who need to be able to create digital submission and examination material
- the operational support to create instructional videos and other information material
- All employees should also be able to use the Maxistudio in KTHB for digital webinars
- The Maxistudio can also relieve the lack of physical classrooms when scheduling, as teachers can then easily create digital, non-physical learning opportunities as a complement to on-site teaching
Project results (output)
- Pilot carried out using existing equipment in existing premises, where representatives from all user types (teachers, students, operational support, etc.) had the opportunity to test the creation and use of digital teaching and examination material with effective and user-friendly operational support.
- Defined process for broader start-up and ongoing management of the studio (technical IT/AV maintenance as well as booking, finance and other administration). The process should have clear responsibilities and also be tested with representatives from all user types (teachers, students, operational support, etc.)
- Examples of teaching approaches that include video material.
- Examples of produced material from all user types (specifically, the number of courses that include material from the studio should be measured, divided into teaching and examination material).
- The studio itself is very well established and currently does not need to be addressed either technically or physically. If successful, the project should produce an estimated budget for any future updates, as well as a proposal for how the solution can be operated and maintained going forward.
