Future education at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management (ITM)

In 2023, the ITM school will start four development projects within KTH's change program Future Education. ITM makes a broad investment that includes the development of both experimental environments and more flexible and inclusive module-based education. The school's program group consists of the directors of First and Second Education (GA), and Deputy GA.

ITM's development projects 2023/2024

Product Innovation and Manufacturing Open Lab – PRIMO Lab

Development of integrated experimental environments that can enable a holistic understanding of the different phases of product realization, and ultimately contribute to the circular society. The pilot includes the four ITM departments IPU, MMK, LES and EGI.

Modularization of Master's Studies (M SPAN)

A pilot designed to investigate how master's programs can be modularized without thereby alienating students or increasing the workload for teachers. The aim is to eventually be able to offer more flexible study paths, teaching and examination, and drive continuous competence development among teachers. The goal is that the ideas from the project can be validated in a new master's programme in Mechatronics from autumn 2024.

HING in Industrial Engineering with one entrance and several outputs

Both application figures and evaluations indicate the need for rethinking KTH's Educational Cohesive Courses for Part Distance Base Year (HING). The project aims to investigate the conditions for a new start of these educations at ITM, taking into full account the principles of the education of the future.

Future education in technical foundation year

In the technical foundation year, there is an increased demand from students for various forms of support. The purpose of the project is to investigate how student centered learning in Möbius, integrated into Canvas, can be linked to teaching and examination.
