Submit proposals for teaching assistant positions at ABE

Published Mar 03, 2021

Within the framework of the President's decision on excellent educational environments (V-2021-0089), the ABE school has been given the opportunity to establish teaching assistant positions linked to the school's various education and research areas.

Malin Wennerholm, Kjartan Gudmundsson

Malin Wennerholm, Director of First and Second Cycle Education (GA) and Kjartan Gudmundsson, Deputy Director of First and Second Cycle Education (Deputy GA), are pleased to announce the initiative:

“It feels good to get the opportunity to employ a number of teaching assistants within the school. The goal of this measure is to support our master's students and the investment is based on the high number of fee paying students within the school's educational programmes. Those who are hired get a theoretical and practical understanding of how researchers and teachers work and get the chance to merit themselves by helping out with research or teaching. We also know that this may increase the competitiveness of our master's programmes as many prospective students often asks about opportunities to apply for these positions.”

If the number of proposals is higher than the financial framework allows, the proposals will be ranked by GA and Deputy GA after consultation with the Programme Directors for the school's First and Second Cycle programmes. The goal is an even distribution of the number of positions throughout the school.

Submit your proposal

Contact the Head of Department  if you have a proposal for a teaching assistant position. The proposal may include teaching as well as participation in research projects within the department. Each position should comprise about 20% of a full-time position for approx. 3-6 months.

The proposal(s) should include:

  •  Description of the tasks involved
  •  Requirement profile (what is required to be able to carry out the work tasks, eg requirements for education and specific prior knowledge, possible previous experience, personal qualities, etc.)
  •   Number of months planned for the position (max. 6 months).
  •   In which division the position is to be placed.

The Head of Department will send the department's proposals (ranked if several proposals are submitted) to the School's Office. The deadline for submitting proposals (through the Head of Department) is 31 March 2021.

Employment as teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance, and in addition KTH's own routines regarding recruitment.
