Editors

Editors are responsible for creating, updating and maintaining the content of our website. This involves ensuring the website is up-to-date, optimised for search engines and follows guidelines. Editors should continuously improve the user experience and cooperate with operations representatives and others.

Web editor

All information on the website should have a designated editor. This role is that of a central person within an organisation who is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the website content. It can be the same person as the content owner.

The web editor gets support from the immediate web manager or the sub-site content manager (if there is one).

The web editor shall:

  • be appointed by the line manager
  • be given working time in proportion to the amount of information to be managed
  • have completed the training required for the role. 

Tasks for web editors

  • Create and maintain web pages and clear outdated pages and files in consultation with the content manager.
  • Ensure that the content is high quality and follows the guidelines.
  • Adapt the scope of their web publishing to ensure transparency and quality.
  • Participate in editorial networks and keep up to date with web publishing requirements.

Training for web editors

A web editor should undergo the following training.

Sub-site content manager

The sub-site content manager is an editor, a role requiring web expertise. The role is suitable for institutions or an intranet section, for example. The responsibility covers a defined part of the structure of the website.

A sub-site content manager supports editors within the sub-site and is supported by the immediate content manager.

The sub-site content manager shall:

  • be designated by the line manager, in consultation with the content manager for the school or the common section
  • be given working time in proportion to the scope of the sub-site
  • know about KTH's websites and common sections' structure, structural principles, and guidelines.
  • have good knowledge of the goals, purpose and target group in focus for the sub-site
  • have a good knowledge of the activities represented by the sub-site.

Tasks for sub-site content managers

  • Coordinate content and editors within the sub-site.
  • Monitor that there are responsible editors for all content.
  • Unpublish content that does not have an active, responsible editor and bring it up with the content manager.
  • Support editors who need to make adjustments to structure.
  • Share web-related information and guidelines with editors within the sub-site.
  • Be the primary contact for the content manager for the school or the common section.
