About the project

You will henceforth need to have your access card together with your PIN code to access campus areas.

In addition to the fact that we live in an increasingly uncertain world, KTH has had repeated problems with unauthorized individuals in its premises, leading to recurring theft and vandalism. To counter this, KTH is introducing a requirement for an access card and PIN code to enter KTH’s buildings—that is, your KTH access card together with your personal four‑digit code. This change does not exclude anyone who is authorized as a student or employee but makes it more difficult for unauthorized individuals to enter the facilities.

The change applies until further notice and will be implemented gradually during the summer and autumn of 2025. The change is part of KTH’s “Have the courage to ask” campaign. KTH is large, and the work is being carried out in stages.

If you have lost your access card or forgotten your PIN code, you need to visit KTH Entré for support. Summer is a good time to do this as queues are shorter. Bring a valid ID.

The decision has been made by the Security manager in accordance with the work and delegation procedures governing the responsibility to:

  • manage access to the university’s premises and alarm and access systems
  • oversee security of KTH’s buildings and property
  • make decisions regarding physical security such as lockdowns, changes in access, camera surveillance, and expanded alarm systems.
