Perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection

The purpose of this function page is to describe KTH's perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection as well as to provide support for this by clarifying the scope and requirements involved.

Scope

This overarching function description applies throughout KTH.

Definitions

  • Perimeter protection: Protective barrier around outer and inner enclosed spaces.
  • Enclosed space: Boundaries for a building/space (wall, ceiling, floor, door, gate, window, other openings) to other premises/spaces and to the public/open spaces
  • Mechanical intrusion protection: Resistance to manual attacks and static and dynamic forces.

Responsibility

Together with the landlord, KTH is responsible for the perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection of its buildings and premises. The distribution of responsibilities is based on the demarcation list regulated by the rental agreement concluded between KTH and the landlord.

KTH's security function is responsible for setting requirements and contact with the security supplier.

Perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection

Perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection are based on KTH's security requirements and their purpose is to prevent, deter and impede unauthorised access and entry to KTH's premises, to prevent and deter unlawful appropriation, as well as to impede and delay the removal of stolen goods.

Perimeter protection and mechanical intrusion protection comply with KTH's project conditions, security standards, insurance rules and any externally set requirements, and shall operate in a balance between security needs and accessibility.

Inspection and service

KTH's perimeter protection technicians carry out service and functional checks of perimeter protection and door environments in order to ensure that proper status and function are maintained. Shortcomings and any measures to be taken are reported to the property owner and activity in question, and appropriate action is then taken.

Fault reporting

In the event of faults or shortcomings in the perimeter protection and the mechanical intrusion protection, contact KTH service.
