Safety and security

KTH’s safety function handles security issues from a strategic and an operational perspective and maintains the authority’s security preparedness.

The assignment includes, among other things, with guidelines, security planning, risk management and the government agency’s agreement on flammable products. Contact with government agencies such as the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, Greater Stockholm Fire Department, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency and the Stockholm Municipality’s Social Welfare Office.

The operational security assignment through the security group includes physical security with a focus on entry, perimeter protection, surveillance, systematic fire safety work, alarms and security planning.

The function provides the government agency with services including safety information and safety courses, insurance issues, risk analyses, fire safety and evacuation issues, entry and access card cases, security guards and alarm issues, perimeter protection, keys and locks, security planning, police reports and cases relating to crime and investigations, and security advisors for the transport of hazardous goods.

Other services handled by the function are security issues linked to students and student welfare. Applications and permits for events, gatherings and alcohol permits and project planning, security preparedness and student welfare issues from a security perspective.
