Ongoing activities

Here are the major projects, initiatives and activities currently underway in Sub-Portfolio Education. These projects have longer timeframes, often spanning several operational periods.

Education planning in Ladok (UPL)

The system support for education planning, currently available in Kopps, will be replaced with a new, more modern, user-friendly system support in Ladok. The system support in Ladok, which includes process support, will enable a simpler and more uniform way of working for planning and determining programme and course offerings. The project is expected to be completed by 1 June 2025 and Ladok will be used for educational planning for the first time in the HT26 admission round.

New IT system support for course evaluation and course analysis (KvKa)

To strengthen and facilitate course evaluation and course analysis, KTH has decided to develop a new IT system with a higher degree of automation. The new system will also provide better access to data to support developing the quality of courses. The system will be tested early during the autumn semester 2024 (HT24) and introduced during the spring semester 2025 (VT25).

Examination invigilator shift management in TentaAdmin

The project aims to enable centralized invigilator shift management, reduce duplication, eliminate risks of manual handling, ensure more stable operation and enable the phasing out of Kopps (KTH's proprietary education planning system).

Establishment and re-establishment of objects according to the new collaboration model for managing system support at KTH (S3K)

S3K is a joint KTH initiative that clarifies responsibilities between operations and IT and organizes management and development activities so that they can be conducted in a businesslike, appropriate and controllable manner.

Examination flow team

A cross-functional team linked to the examination flow is being established with the aim of developing and improving working methods for planning, coordinating and prioritizing long-term development efforts. The aim is to manage needs and changes and strengthen cooperation between IT support, business support and pedagogy to meet the educational challenges of the future within examination.

Replacement of Kopps' schedule documentation (EKS)

The basis for the schedule form, currently available in Kopps, has been replaced with new system support through the TE Preferences module in the scheduling system TimeEdit. In close collaboration with the supplier and with the help of user tests, the project has developed a form that supports KTH's needs. It makes it easier to submit and retrieve information before scheduling the course. The system was implemented autumn 2023 ahead of scheduling for autumn 2024.

Canvas@KTH for new employees

The Canvas@KTH training was developed to achieve a more efficient use of, and increased quality in, KTH's digital learning environment. The training gives participants a basic understanding of how Canvas and its functions should be used at KTH. The goal is for Canvas to be used more equally and uniformly in different courses, making it easier for students to navigate Canvas and promoting focus on the course content. The University Director decided (V-2024-0182) that all new employees who will design or administer activities in Canvas must complete the training.

Anonymous assessment of written on-campus exam

The Student Union at KTH (THS) has long wanted students' test answers to be anonymized before correction/assessment. In May 2023, the University Director was commissioned (V-2023-0435) to develop support so that anonymization of test answers can be implemented from the spring semester 2024. The sub-portfolio's assignment was to develop a procedure for anonymization of test answers during written on-campus exam, for example in written exams, control writing and the like. The sub-portfolio also developed user support and investigated which functions can be developed for anonymous examination in Canvas, for example for quizzes.

The personal menu

Employees and students use the personal menu as a shortcut to some of KTH's various tools and services. In the fall of 2022, work began improving manageability and better meeting users' needs. A new version for students and teachers launched in 2023. Continuous improvements will also be made.

Programme rooms in Canvas

KTH has introduced programme rooms in Canvas for the fall semester of 2023 and common recommendations for programme communication. In the fall of 2022, a needs analysis and function inventory was made where Canvas was judged to be a good system for programme communication when the programme web will be shut down.
