Using Inspera Originality standalone
In certain exceptional cases, for example in thesis courses, there may be reason to use plagiarism checking outside of Canvas. In such cases, you as a teacher can use Inspera Originality as a standalone tool.
When to use Originality standalone
Inspera Originality should primarily be used as an integrated tool within Canvas. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to use Originality outside the Canvas environment. In such cases, the tool can be used in its standalone version.
Originality standalone allows you to manually check documents — for example, reports, theses, or other texts that have not been submitted through a Canvas course. It can be useful for reviewing degree projects, research papers, or other types of documents. The tool can be used by teachers, examiners, and other staff who need to perform a plagiarism check on a text.
Access to Originality standalone
All employees at KTH with teaching or administrative privileges can use the standalone version. To get access to a standalone account, you need to do the following:
-
Use the following link: Inspera Originality
-
Click Login with SWAMID.
-
Enter your KTH email address and password.
-
You are now logged in to the standalone version of Originality and can review documents through the web interface.
How Originality standalone works
The tool works in the same way as it does in Canvas:
-
Upload your document in the standalone version of Originality. Click the "+" button on the left, then select "Upload". In the upload window, you can choose which settings should apply to your submission.
-
Wait for the analysis results. Once you’ve uploaded the document, the analysis will start automatically. The process usually takes only a few minutes, depending on the length of the document.
-
Review the report. When the report is ready, click “Report” to open and review it.
