Service description
EduSign allows you to sign and validate documents electronically. EduSign can be used to upload and sign PDF and XML documents, and the signed document is also validated by the service.
Signing is easy by following these steps
- Upload the document to be signed to this page
- Authorise to sign
- Authenticate with your university account
- Download the signed document
Signed documents will be validated on this page
Worth noting: When a document signed with eduSign is opened in Adobe Acrobat/Reader, it may say that the signature is invalid or has a problem. However, the signature is not "invalid" but rather a certificate issue. If you are unsure, EduSign signatures can always be validated with Sunet's validation service validator.edusign.sunet.se/
The reason it is written as invalid in Adobe Acrobat/Reader is that eduSign is not listed as a trusted certificate authority in Adobe Acrobat/Reader. eduSign follows DIGG's technical framework for digital signatures for Swedish authorities, which in turn follows the CEF building blocks for signatures within the EU and which works differently than Adobe's own signatures.
2025: Listing eduSign's certificate as a trusted certificate authority in Adobe Acrobat/Reader involves a major effort where several security aspects need to be investigated before listing can take place. As KTH is currently working on an investigation regarding a technical solution for digital signatures listing eduSign in Adobe will not be prioritized.
