Communication strategy and plan

According to the KTH guidelines for centres, each centre must prepare a communication plan and strategy. The templates and guides below have been provided to assist in this.

According to KTH’s Guidelines on the Management of Research Centres (reg. no: V-2022-0046 1.2), each centre must prepare a communication strategy based on its goals. The strategy should clarify the direction of communication activities. Each centre must also produce a communication plan for each financial year. Below are templates for both the strategy and plan to use as a basis.

Communication strategy

According to KTH’s Guidelines on the Management of Research Centres (reg. no: V-2022-0046 1.2), each centre must prepare a communication strategy based on its goals. The strategy should clarify the direction of communication activities. The strategy should outline, among other things, the division of responsibilities, dissemination of information, and visibility between the parties.

The centre director is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the strategy is prepared. It should be written with the assistance of a communication representative from the host school or the centre, who is responsible for the process with strategic backup from the COM centre communicator. The centre steering committee may also act as a sounding board for the director when preparing the communication strategy.

The director and communicator at the host school or centre possess the best knowledge of activities and local preconditions. COM may contribute a strategic overall KTH perspective, and share experiences from other centres. Close collaboration between these roles is recommended to ensure successful centre communication. The centre’s steering committee or general assembly should then decide on the communication strategy.

Communication plan

The communication plan should be based on the communication strategy and describe the communication activities planned for the year ahead. The centre director is responsible for ensuring that the communication plan is prepared, in collaboration with the centre communicator.

The COM centre communicator is available for advice as necessary. The steering committee or general assembly decides on the communication plan, including its budget for each year.
