Channels in KTH Slack
Extra information about channels in KTH Slack
KTH is a large and vibrant organization with many employees who are in KTH Slack and who access the channels that are public (does not apply to those with guest accounts).
The public channels that you are automatically connected to when you get your Slack account are:
- #kth-announcements (announcements)
- #kth-fika (for general fun/well-being, maybe you're looking for someone to have lunch with or you have a funny meme to post)
- #kth-general (general channel)
In addition to that, there are a number of other public channels you can connect to if you want. You do that by searching for and join a channel by either searching in the search bar or listing available public channels.
It is strongly recommended on public channels (and private is possible) that you start with #kth or #vs (verksamhetsstöd) when you name your new created public channel, and that you name it with the associated purpose.
Below is an example list of some public channels amongst others for recycling, digital accessibility, translation assistance or IT security that are available and that you can join.
- #vs-it-security-bulletins (IT-security)
- #vs-it-security-news (IT-security)
- #kth-accessibility (digital accessibility)
- #kth-översättning-och-språkfrågor (translation queries)
- #reuse-kth-things (recycling)
- #freecycle-kth (recycling)
- #kth-fritid (a lot of leisure channels start with this prefix)

We naturally encourage the creation of public channels that can be useful for us at KTH and or for pleasantries, useful things, and please do advertise new or old created public channels in the channel #kth-annoucements.
