Apply for scholarships from the Foundations at ITM

Now, the Foundations at ITM advirtise a number of scholarships, that you can apply for until September 23, 2020.

General information

Application period: September 2 to September 23, 2020

Please note that all trips should be booked according to KTH’s guidelines for travel.

It is important that you read the instructions carefully. The application is submitted electronically. All applications, irrespective of scholarship, must state the intended purpose of the scholarship and have a cost estimate attached.

All travel grants will automatically be paid to the scholar's school/department. It is not possible to get a travel grant paid to your own bank account. Exceptions to this rule are only applicable in cases where scholarships are awarded to students at the undergraduate and advanced level.

A Budget form must be completed and attached to the application. Fill out the budget form and save it before starting to fill in your application form. The budget should be based on expected actual travel costs. You need to include documentation showing how you calculated your costs (can be a screen print or the like). Other costs must be both specified and justified.

Stiftelsen Bergshögskolans jubileumsfond (Foundation Bergshögskolan’s Jubilee Fund)

Available amount SEK 32 900

The purpose of the Foundation is to award travel grants to teachers and doctoral students, and study scholarships for doctoral students, within Materials Science and Engineering.

Stiftelsen Georg Elfving (Foundation Georg Elving)

Available amount SEK 51 000

The objective of the foundation is to award scholarships to doctoral students in Energy and Furnace Engineering, who have excelled in their studies and have shown exemplary conduct.

Stiftelsen A H Göransson (Foundation A H Göransson)

Available amount SEK 113 600

The purpose of the Foundation is to award scholarships to Swedish citizens having a degree from the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering and is a doctoral student whose research may be of significance for the Swedish process metallurgy focused on steel.

The application must clearly state the intended use of the scholarship, and include a transcript a recommendation letter from the supervisor and a cost estimate.

Stiftelsen Walfrid Peterssons minnesfond (Foundation Walfrid Petersson Memorial Fund)

Available amount SEK 75 800

The grant is intended to support research for teachers and doctoral students in Materials Science. The undergraduate degree for the doctoral students must not be older than one year. The application should contain a description of the purpose of the research. A brief statement of achieved research results should be handed in within two years. The statement can also be handed in in the form of a publication or as a lecture.

The scholarship can also be used as travel grants to teachers. For travel grants, a brief statement should be sent in within one month after the travel.

Yngströms Stiftelse (The Yngström Foundation)

Available amount SEK 50 800

The purpose of this foundation is to award a grant to a Swedish citizen having an undergraduate degree in Materials Science and who aims to complete research studies and pass a licentiate or doctoral degree. Doctoral students within process metallurgy for steels will be given priority.

The application must clearly state the intended use of the scholarship, and include a transcript, a recommendation letter from the supervisor and a cost estimate.

Terms and conditions

All applications will get a written notice via e-mail.

Recipients of travel grants must, at the latest one month after the travel, fill out a trip report .

If the trip is cancelled, you can apply for a change of travel within one year after the original decision.

If a change of travel isn’t possible you must notify stipendier@kth.se  immediately and the scholarship needs to be repaid to the foundation.
