Dear all,

This week we have welcomed a new adjunct professor to MMK. Rafia Inam, adjunct professor in dependable cyber-physical systems, will be a great contribution to our future activities. Rafia is employed at Ericsson, is doing research in Artificial Intelligence, and joins the Mechatronics group. Adjunct professor means that the person is employed by both parties; Ericsson and now KTH, and spends about one day per week at KTH to support our activities.

At a welcoming-lunch yesterday for Rafia, one of our two newly elected PhD student representatives showed us to an ice cream machine on campus. I must say that I am very happy that we finally have, not one, but two, elected PhD student representatives. These are Nils Jörgensen and José Manuel Gaspar Sanchez, both from the Mechatronics group. As PhD student representatives, Nils and José are representing all students at MMK, and, they have important roles to make sure that students interests is always taken into account as well as providing a student mindset in discussions regarding our future activities. Nils and José are invited to all management meetings at MMK, and, to follow KTH rules and regulations, I as head of department must consult with José and Nils before any major decisions. As with the ice cream machine, I know this will be a big improvement for MMK.

Now I wish all a nice weekend,

Martin
