Dear all,

The weeks leading up to the summer holiday season are always intense, many activities converge. On Monday this week, KTH arranged the “storträff”, a meeting focused on future development of our education with all teaching staff were invited to. I was happy to see so many MMK people attending and also that a lot of activities and initiatives were initiated by MMK people.

On Monday, I attended a discussion on “responsible internationalization”. The changes we see around us affects us all and there will be a need to scrutinize international collaborations more in the future. KTHs ambition is not to setup rules (unusual for KTH) but to instead trust the researchers initiating the collaboration to do the right thing. We will be given key measures to use when deciding who to collaborate with, and, I will invite the senior faculty to these discussions in the fall.

1,5 weeks ago, we met with the management team, all MMK MSc program directors and track leaders plus a working group investigating future collaborative opportunities between MSc programs in a workshop to establish a plan for how to develop our MSc program portfolio based on the RAE, the guidelines for our future education and our own ideas. I was happy to see so much initiative and engagement for these questions and we will continue this work in the fall to see how our current program portfolio can be developed further.

The last two weeks we have seen a lot of final presentations on BSc projects and MSc projects. I was happy to see that the exhibition of design-BSc-projects at KTH Entré attracted so many people. I was also happy to be able to eat a lot of ice cream at the Mechatronics BSc project demos last Friday.

Now I hope that everyone will be able to utilize the “long weekend” ahead.

Best,

Martin
