KTH's organisation
KTH Royal Institute of Technology's activities are managed by a University Board. The activities immediately under the University Board are led by a President. Under the President, the University's activities are organised into five schools and a University Administration. Each School is headed by a Head of School, and the University Administration is headed by a University Director. In addition to the line organisation, there is a collegial organisation with the Faculty Council at the university-wide level and Faculty Boards at the school-wide level.
University Board
The President of KTH reports to the University Board. The board has 15 members: the chairperson, who should be one of the eight external representatives, three faculty members, the President and three students.
President and management
The President is appointed by the government for a period of six years after nomination by the University Board. The Deputy President is appointed by the University Board. Vice Presidents are appointed for special tasks by the President.
Five schools and their organisation and management
KTH's activities are separated into different schools. Each of these is heading a number of Departments, Centres of excellence and undergraduate study programmes. The KTH Schools are responsible for education and research activities at KTH. At the different KTH Competence Centres activities of a varied nature are conducted; these often pertain to new research areas and frequently involve joint efforts with business life and the community. Each of the KTH Centres do always have a formal connection of some kind with one of KTH's Schools.

University administration
The University Administration is handling both administration and service functions for the entire university.
Internal Audit
The University has an internal audit function headed by a Director. Internal Audit reviews and makes suggestions for improvements to the University's internal governance and control process, and provides advice and support to the University Board and the President.
Faculty Council
The Faculty Council is a university-wide body for KTH's work on quality development and collegial dialogue. The Faculty Council has overall responsibility for issues relating to quality in education, research and collaboration. The Faculty Council is chaired by the Dean of faculty and consists of six other members elected by KTH's teachers and researchers and three external members. Students are represented in the Faculty Council.
