Last week we finished the RAE interviews. 15 of us met with eight experts from all over the world. I was impressed by the positive atmosphere, the experts seemed sincerely constructive and eager to help us formulate our future plans. A lot of the discussions circled around the integration of the ITRL center and the opportunities we have in developing a research field in relation to complex dynamic systems. The experts saw opportunities with all of our units to engage in this field and to create synergies with existing research. All senior staff at MMK are invited to join an annual internal conference, this year on October 18-19, when we will discuss these suggested changes further.

Last week me and Erika met with two architects that will support us in the upcoming changes to our MMK building. The architects will mainly work with the MMK mgmt. group, but in the near future the process will include a step where the architects need the input from all MMK members – to study and analyze our needs in terms of office spaces.

I was very happy to receive the invitation for a get-together next Friday to celebrate Staffan Q who retires soon. I’m less happy that he retires. But, I hope that as many MMK (and ITRL) people as possible accept the invitation and that the activity can be an opportunity to meet again in a social setting.
