Dear all,
Today we received feedback from the KTH 2021 RAE panel. This is one of the last steps in the RAE process, with only the written feedback report remaining. The chair of the panel, professor Eero Eloranta from Aalto University, summarized the feedback for the five departments in our panel. I was happy to see so many members from MMK join the meeting, and it was nice to be able to listen to the feedback for the other departments as well.
As you know, Prof Mats Magnusson was our main author of the report, and with so much contribution from so many members at MMK (for example with the impact section), I can honestly say that I expected positive feedback. But I believe we were all a bit shocked by the outcome. Here’s some quotes from the chair of the experts:
“KTH needs MMK more than MMK needs KTH. Follow their example”. (said mainly to the other departments)
“This is the only time in history when a technical university have been able to adapt in time” (I hope I got this quote right)
“Do you guys know how good you are?”
We apparently made a good impression at the interviews as well, which was mentioned today, so I also want to remind you of our joint efforts then – the presentations by Martin T and Mats M as well as all the inputs from the 15 selected MMK members.
So – today is a day to be proud of being an MMK person (or an ITRL person). For all the good research, education and other things that we do here.
Best,
Martin
