Newsmail #8, 2021-20-26
Dear all,
This time a more technical newsmail. As per previous information, the KTH transition from Box to OneDrive has now reached MMK. Some users are already migrated, some are expecting migration this week. Some will be migrated later.
IT support will inform the user the day before the migration. This email will tell the user to stop working in the Box area from 15.00 the next day. The access to Box will be removed and the user will be told when the migration is done and when the work can proceed in the new area, on OneDrive.
This is all clear and fine. And, if you are happy with this, you can stop reading this email. But, I, for example, work daily in Box areas shared by other people: on MMK, ITM and other schools. How will I know when to stop doing that and where to find the files instead? Perhaps some areas are already moved and I am working in the wrong place? Do we have two separate file systems now with conflicting copies? There is no good answer. As the system is setup, there is always one individual who owns the files and that individual is responsible for making sure that the people the area is shared with is informed when the migration is done. IT will try hard to inform every user about the shares, so my suggestion is that the users who are responsible for areas used by many other people take particular concern that the users are informed when the transition is happening.
