Sunet Scribe

Please note that the service is not intended for material that is comprised by the security protection legislation.

How yo use Sunet Scribe

Brief information on how to use Sunet Scribe. Extended information is available in the PDF file linked here on the page.

Login to Sunet Scribe

When you log in to Sunet Scribe for the first time, you need to log in with SSO, which means that the login is using multi-factor authentication  and that you need to have your mobile device available.

Once you have logged in and authenticated, you will need to create a personal passphrase (like a password) and use it to log in. The following times you only need to use your passphrase to log in.

If you lose your personal passphrase, you can generate a new one yourself, but you will not be able to access and download previously transcribed material created during the occasions when you used your old passphrase.

You log in by going to the page scribe.sunet.se .

Video captioning

Sunet Scribe differs somewhat from KTH Play in that Sunet Scribe does not insert text directly onto the video file, but instead it creates a text file in standard video subtitle format that then can be used with the video file. This means that you can, for example, create several different subtitle files that are subtitled and translated in different languages, which you can then use with the video file.

For instance you can use pre-recorded videos in KTH play by Download a video from KTH Play  (which you can then remove and delete from KTH play as it is not a storage space for unpublished videos) and then upload that file to Sunet Scribe.

Transcription of video or audio file

Sunet Scribe handles most common formats for importing video and audio files and a variety of formats for exporting

  • Import formats include: mp3, mp4, wav, avi, mov, ogg and more.
  • Export formats include: txt, json, rtf, csv, tsv
