Last year KTH's new work environment training programme saw the day of light, and in May it was time for the ITM School's heads of departments and head of school to take on the training. What was it like? Hear from four heads of department about their experiences.
"The best thing about the training was the concrete examples given on health and safety responsibilities. It was eye-opening."
/Björn Laumert, Head of the Department of Energy Technology
"Work environment is difficult, it's tricky to understand who is responsible for what, how to organise it. This is work that needs to be done and we need to help each other, for example by taking these courses together."
/Martin Edin Grimheden, Head of the Department of Engineering Design
"The best thing was the compact format and the review of and instructions for systematic work environment management."
/Joakim Odqvist, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering
"It was valuable to get an integrated overview of how to work with physical and digital health and safety issues."
/Arnold Pears, Head of the Department of Learning in Engineering Sciences
In June, the remaining managers of the ITM School will be trained followed by one school at a time. The programme is mandatory for all KTH managers and was developed by the HR department. It includes a lecture on work environment legislation, discussions and reflections on legal cases, exercises in systematic work environment management and information on general work environment risks.
