Travelling outside of Sweden

If you intend to travel outside of Sweden, for vacation, we strongly recommend you do the following:

If you are entitled to a Swedish Personal Number or already got a Swedish Personal Number – apply for a European Health Insurance Card at the Swedish Social Security Agency

If you are entitled to a Swedish Personal Number or already have a Swedish Personal Number – apply for a household insurance at any of the Insurance companies in Sweden. A world-wide 45 day travel insurance is included in most household insurance policies and a household insurance will cover you for a number of incidents, not just related to your house or traveling.

There are several insurance companies in Sweden and we have listed some of the most well established. A household insurance is about 150 SEK/month, depending on your age and other factors.

If you don’t have a Swedish personal number and it is not likely that you will get one:
Please make sure you have a proper insurance from your home country.

Without an insurance from your home country or from Sweden all incidents and accidents outside Sweden will be at your own expense and seeing a doctor, spending days or weeks at a hospital might end up extremely expensive.

Please make sure you are insured before leaving for vacation outside of Sweden.

When traveling for work, according to the KTH travel plan, you are insured by the KTH travel insuranc
