Courses within the doctoral programme

Compulsory courses

In pedagogics

FLH3000 Basic Communication and Teaching 3.0 credits
This course is given in English about four times a year, in P1, P1-P2, P3, P3-P4. Please see the schedule and sign up via the application form .

In research methodology and theory of science

FAK3014 The Theory and Methodology of Science - Minor Course 3.0 credits
This course is given several times per year, in P1, P2, P3, P4. Sign up via the application form linked under the heading "Supplementary information". Once you receive a confirmation that you have gotten a space on the course, please forward your confirmation to doctoral-education-support@eecs.kth.se  and request to be formally admitted in Ladok. Once you have been admitted, you will be able to register yourself online via your Ladok page during the web registration period for that course round.

FAK3012 Supplementary Course in Theory and Methodology of Science 3.0 credits
Students who have already taken a course in research methodology during their master's studies should opt for this course instead of FAK3014. The course is offered in P1, P2, P3 and P4. Sign up via the application form linked under the heading "Supplementary information". Once you receive a confirmation that you have gotten a space on the course, please forward your confirmation to doctoral-education-support@eecs.kth.se  and request to be formally admitted in Ladok. Once you have been admitted, you will be able to register yourself online via your Ladok page during the web registration period  for that course round.

In research tools, conceptual and practical

FAK3127 The Sustainable Scientist 2.0 credits ← the course fee is covered by the school
This course will be offered every year in period 4. A requirement for offering each course round is that sufficiently many students apply. Students should have studied at least one year on third cycle level (doctoral studies) before taking this course. Sign up via the application form linked under the heading "Supplementary information". Once you receive a confirmation that you have gotten a space on the course, please forward your confirmation to doctoral-education-support@eecs.kth.se  and request to be formally admitted in Ladok. Once you have been admitted, you will be able to register yourself online via your Ladok page during the web registration period  for that course round.

In scientific writing

FDS3103 Introduction to Scientific Writing 2.0 credits ← the course fee is covered by the school
This course is offered once or twice every year. To sign up, please follow the instructions provided at the top of the linked course page.

FDS3102 Writing Scientific Articles 5.0 credits
This is a more extensive course that can be taken as an alternative to FDS3103.
