Three recruitment procedures initiated and nominating committee on its way

The faculty board's January meeting

Published Jan 28, 2026

The first faculty board meeting of the year included, among other things, three recruitment cases and a discussion on how the nominating committee for the faculty board should be established. The committee is also tasked with proposing candidates for the positions of head of school and deputy head of school for the president’s decision.

The faculty board has decided to initiate recruitment cases. These include a guest professorship in technology and geopolitics at the Department of Real Estate, and a senior lectureship in philosophy of science and technology, as well as an affiliated faculty member, both at the Department of Philosophy and History.

Another issue discussed was how to make it clearer how pedagogical skill should be assessed in connection with applications for docentship. The Faculty Board wishes for greater predictability in how such applications are handled.

As is known, a number of positions of trust will be appointed at the ABE School in 2026. The work has begun by selecting the nominating committee that will propose candidates for the positions of heads of school and faculty board members. During the board meeting, the requirements profile and composition were discussed. At the next school meeting, on Tuesday, 10 February, the faculty board will inform about the process and present its proposal for the nomination committee. At that time, the faculty will have the opportunity to comment on the composition before a decision is made two weeks later.

Next faculty board meeting will be on 19 February.

As told by Pernilla Hagbert to Johan C Thorburn.
