KTH Employee Pulse 6 February 2024

Below is an interpretation of KTH's overall results from quarter 1, 2024

Measurement period Pulse Index* Response rate
6 - 14 February 2024 66/100 (+1) 66 % (+2 %)

*This is an index (0-100), containing the average result of the drivers in Pulse index (the 10 recurring core questions). Higher results indicate that the employees experience a more satisfactory working situation in their day-to-day job.

Core questions

The Pulse index has increased by another point since the last survey. Compared to the measurement at the same time in 2023 (quarter 1), the Pulse index has increased by five points. The result in KTH's strongest area, Enthusiasm, with the question "We have a positive working climate at our workplace" is unchanged since the last survey. The second strongest area Inclusion, with the question "I feel community in the workplace", is also unchanged since the last survey.

The weakest area remains to be Balance - Workload, with the question "My current workload is at an appropriate level", but the result has strengthened by three points since the last survey. Compared to the measurement at the same time in 2023 (quarter 1), the result in the area has increased by seven points. The area Balance - work/leisure with the question "I have a good balance between work and leisure", has strengthened by two points since the last survey. Compared to the measurement at the same time in 2023 (quarter 1), the result in the area has increased by six points.

Theme area: Treatment and interaction

Compared to the most recent survey with the theme of treatment and interaction (quarter 1 2023), you can see a positive development in the results. The questions with the strongest results are still "I feel that we treat each other with respect at the workplace" (+2 points) and "I feel that employees from all backgrounds are treated equally at my workplace" (+2 points).

Questions with weaker results but which have improved since quarter 1 2023 are "My workplace does a good job of promoting an inclusive work environment" (+3 points) and "I feel that it is possible to raise problems and difficult issues at the workplace" (+5 points, which is the largest improvement on a question with a four-point answer scale in the theme area).

11% of respondents have answered that they have been subjected to unwelcome behavior* at the workplace in the last 12 months, which is an unchanged result since the survey in quarter 1 2023. 20% of respondents have answered that they do not know where to seek support if they have been subjected to unwelcome behaviour, which is a positive decrease of 6% since the survey in quarter 1 2023. 26% of respondents have answered that they do not know where to report instances of unwelcome behaviour, which is also a positive decrease of 6 % since the survey in quarter 1 2023.

Overall, the result shows an improvement in the theme area of treatment and interaction during the last 12 months. The unchanged result on the question regarding subjection to unwelcome behavior is, however, an example that we must continue to work together to improve the way we treat each other in the workplace.

*Unwelcome behavior is a collective term for discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment and victimization. Read more on the intranet about KTH's routines for instances of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment and victimization .
