Union representative of the year!
Boel Berg Wincent was nominated as union representative of the year in an uplifting initiative from Engineers of Sweden, and has been announced one of the winners.
In the nomination her role and engagement were summarized as follows (translation of original Swedish text):
"Boel Berg Wincent is a phd-student at KTH and member of the local saco-s board. Early on in her doctoral studies she became aware of the instances where KTH fails to follow collective agreements for doctoral students. Especially doctoral students with an international background, that do not master Swedish and lack knowledge about the Swedish model have difficulties to assert their rights.
Through her commitment in both the student union (PhD Chapter) and the union, she has actively informed about local collective agreements and the rights of doctoral students, increased interest and commitment for the union, and promoted positive changes for her colleagues. Her work was celebrated with KTH’s 2024 President's Equality and Diversity Prize . In a large and international work place such as KTH, with PhD students often in a vulnerable position, Boels dedicated work is priceless! That is why Boel deserves a grand cake celebration!
