Dear all,
I am a representative for the ITM heads of departments in the steering group for IRIS. IRIS (Research Initiative on Sustainable Industry and Society (IRIS) | KTH) was initiated by the previous head of ITM as a long-term initiative to increase research in sustainability in industry and society, and a strategy to increase ITM faculty funds long-term.
IRIS is a massive initiative, with a budget of 76 MSEK, engaging all seven departments at ITM school. We are now starting the third year out of four. MMK has been allocated 11,4 MSEK over four years, so a considerable opportunity to create impact. All units at MMK are involved and engaged in IRIS.
At the steering-group meeting yesterday we note that two years have passed and that the remaining two years are crucial, if we are to create impact by December 2023.
MMK is involved in IRIS via coordinators, researchers and research leaders. We also have selected representatives to the reference groups of all four IRIS areas. In these remaining two years, it’s therefore important that we are active and engaged on all fronts, that the representatives in the reference groups actively take part in the discussions and establishments of new research projects so that we can utilize what’s happening at MMK, that we contribute in the multi-disciplinary activities and that we make sure we can utilize IRIS and all the IRIS resources to further develop the research at MMK.
Best,
Martin
